Outfit of the night OOTN

Midi style dresses and skirts are all the range at the minute from high street to catwalk everyone is going crazy for the longer look. With the rise of maxi dresses over recent years it’s no wonder that this new look has been created; combining both the maxi and mini styles, midi is perfect for both day and night wear and I discovered it works for any body shape too.

Originally when the midi length came out I wasn’t a big fan, with my small legs I instantly presumed that the style would be unflattering and not a good look for me. I thought it would drown out my legs and make me look even smaller (which is not good at only 5 foot 1). However once I took the plunge and tried one on I fell in love, and now they are an essential in my ever-growing wardrobe.

This is one of my ultimate favourite outfits and if I could wear it every day I would. Midis are such a good way at taking a simple look and giving it a quirky and new twist. I mean everyone can wear a skirt and a vest right? But by simply swapping for a midi skirt dresses up the outfit and creates a whole new outcome. This beautiful midi I found at New Look and thought it would be perfect for my move to Tenerife.

Spots are something that I cannot keep away from and I am instantly drawn to them and always end up buying the product. It can be anything from clothes and jewellery to stationary and phone covers, I am addicted to the polka dot craze! Therefore this midi skirt instantly captured my attention and I knew that I must have it. I had previously invested in a midi dress a few weeks before so I knew that I was good with the style and was confident in purchasing the skirt.

I have worn this outfit twice once during the day and once at night so I know it is a versatile look that with the right accessories can be worn for any occasion. The vest top I have in every colour as they are comfortable and a nice fit, the blue denim coloured vest compliments the skirt and they work well together. For the daytime I managed to get out in the English sun before I left; the look of the outfit I kept simple, wearing studded dolly shoes, a thin camel coloured belt, a pair of big sunglasses and my handbag and I was good to go.

For the night time I wore it to the opening of a new bar last week. I decided to add a few more accessories to the outfit to dress it up; so I added diamond shaped gold earrings, a silver and gold necklace, my favourite pink ring with matching lipstick, as it wasn’t a big night out I wore it with some dressy sandals. If I was going on a proper night out I would have added some big heels.

The main thing I love about the figure hugging skirt is that I think it prolongs my legs and surprisingly makes them look longer than they actual are which is a bonus. The high waist fills out my hips and makes my none-existent bum look fuller which again is great.

If you are not like me and are not crazy about spots then there are millions of other styles around at the minute that look great and you should definitely try them out. I am keen on the plain coloured ones too I think the simple black style looks great and paired with a bright top and accessories are a great way at introducing the midi length into your everyday wear.

Ebay eyelashes yey or ney!

All of us girls know that when planning a night out whether it’s a big one or simply just a night with the girls that the essentials are crucial. Now I know it’s not for everyone but I am a liner and lashes kinda girl on a night out. The main essential I need to look glam is a pair of false lashes, without wearing falsies, my eyes feel naked and bare. They are the key to dressing up my face and I rely on them more than any other item of make-up to get me in the mood to party.

However I’m sure you will all agree that there is nothing worse than waking up and the lashes that looked perfect the night before usually have been thrown off when I got in never to be seen again, cried off from my drunken state, or still on and stuck to my eyelids. In other words nine times out of ten they are ruined after just one wear.

It is frustrating that when paying between £5 and £10 each time for them, they are going to be ruined in a matter of hours. I have tried dozens of makes and styles and although now I wear them regularly, when I first started I constantly took forever trying to apply them and I was useless. But after practice and time I got better so I thought I’d share are a few hints and tips along the way.

It was great when a friend told me about these little beauty’s from Ebay and within hours I decided to give them a go and had placed an order. At only £3.50 for ten pairs of lashes I thought it must be too good to be true (as things that seem it usually are), but after three days they turned up and looked pretty promising.

So putting them to the test...I thought I’d try them out on a night out in Sheffield, when I took them out of the casing I realised how big they were compared to others, normally I have to cut lashes down anyway as my eyes are small but these I had to cut a considerable amount off. This was not a problem really but I did have to cut a section of each end so that I kept the outline neat for my eye.

My only real fault with the lashes is that they have a flimsier lash band than others I have used (so be careful when removing them from the packaging). Due to the flimsiness they take a little more time to apply as you have to mould them to the shape of your eyes slightly more than normal. What I do is either bend them into a C shape to stop them lifting at the ends, or either curl my eyes lashes beforehand so there isn’t a gap between the false ones and my real lashes.

I suggest that when applying them to the eye press down on either end for 10-15 seconds avoid applying too much pressure, but just enough to allow the glue to take to the eyelash and hold in place. Some people use tweezers but I find these more of an annoyance and prefer using my fingers.

Avoid this glue! Although I have found that cheap lashes can be just as good as the expensive ones, my top tip is to not use the glue provided with these lashes as it tends to leaves the lashes peeling at the end and in general is rather rubbish. I have a selection from the brands I have used and Eylure is the best but I would also say if you’re a regular user then to invest in a big tub of eyelash glue.

Once on they felt natural and comfortable on my eyes and in minutes forgot they were there, this was a good factor as some can irritate and hurt my eyes and with the small price tag I was dreading that this would happen. They last well all night and rarely need anymore glue to keep them on and in place. If you are more careful than me and on the odd time I do manage to save them at the end of the night, then peel off the excess glue left on and wipe down with a face wipes and you can reuse the lashes again and again.

Overall I would advise you to try these Ebay bargains whether you’re a regular wearing or a first time trier. The length is just enough to give emphasize on the eyes, and on a night out add eyeliner, eye shadow and a lovely shade of lipstick to volumize the lashes or if it’s a simple daytime look you’re going for just add a touch of mascara and your good to go.

What are your favorite lashes and tips?

Welcome fellow fashionistas

Hey guys, this is just a first post to welcome you to Daisychains and Sequins. I have lots of exciting posts coming up and I can't wait to share all of my latest purchases and products with you all. Hopefully I will help you to trying out some great stuff and advise you away from the bad!
Fashion is something I have always wanted to be apart of and although (like most of us) I have made some disasters moves in the past I am going to show you all my fantastic fashion buys, experiences and tries, which hopefully you will love too!

This has got to be one of my ultimate favorite sayings ever! I thought I'd share it with you as its something that makes me happy and hope you do too. Live, laugh and Love, this cute sign hangs in my bedroom and every time I'm feeling down or slightly low I look at it and it cheers me up straight away and gives me inspiration. I hope all of you have something like this that you look to if you need lightening up a little or just something to make you feel better on those terrible rainy days! Anyway looking forward to sharing more with you soon.

Bye for now
